
Mark Kang-O'Higgins / Marcas Ó'hUigínn is a fine artist living and working in Seattle. His stunning work has been shown in exhibitions in Seattle, New York and around the world at the Seattle Art Museum Gallery, Linda Hodges Gallery, Pro-Graphica, Davidson Gallery and 4Culture. His work has also appeared in publications, and is included in public and private collections both nationally and internationally.
Mark founded the Kang-O'Higgins Atelier at Gage Academy of Art in 2004, and continues to mentor student-artists of all ages and abilities. The atelier emphasizes a hands-on approach to art, and works across different media including drawing, painting and sculpture.
Mark has taught his contemporary approach to fine art at schools and academies in Edinburgh, Scotland, New York and Seattle, including the Riverdale Kingsbridge Academy, Leith School of Art, University College Galway, East Harlem School Exodus House, Cameron University, Everett Community College, Frye Art Museum, Oaklahoma Arts Institute, Gage Academy of Art and Digipen Institute of Technology in Seattle and Redmond.
Mark earned his BA and MA in Sociology and Political Science at University College Galway, Ireland. He studied art at the Leith School of Art and Edinburgh College of Art in Scotland, and earned an MFA at the New York Academy of Art, where he received the Most Promising International Student Award in 2003.
